My Work
Pier 80
I like big boats an' I cannot lie! Below is a photo of one of two large ships docked at Pier 80 in SF that was taken from my paddle board during the mini-fall SF experienced this year. Getting in position to take this photo meant getting on the water on the other side of the Islais Creek bridge, paddling beneath the bridge and ducking down and wincing while the cars crossing the bridge caused the open-metal mesh to rattle and creak overhead. And then paddling under the Illinois Street bridge (not nearly as hair-raising). Pier 80, located in the "no man's land" between the now-hip Pier 70 and Herron's Head Park, is increasingly being used as an event space. Hopefully, it will retain its rough edges as the area around it gets discovered and developed.
